Dushanbe International Airport

Dushanbe International Airport is an airport located in the capital of Tajikistan. It is the main hub for Somon Air and Tajik Air. There are 20 daily departures from the airport.

In September 2014, on the eve of the next SCO summit, a new passenger terminal with a capacity of 1.5 million people was opened. The beautiful modern building with natural lighting, made possible by colorful stained glass, was built in 20 months. For comparison: the first airport was built 30 years after the decision of the Tajik sovnarkom of the Republic of Tajikistan “On the construction of the city of Dushanbe”. In 2017, the largest cargo terminal in Dushanbe was opened.

The new clean terminal, designed by French firm Vinci, has duty-free shops (prices in euros, but any currency accepted) and several cafes.

Khujand International Airport

Khujand International Airport is an international airport seven kilometers southeast of the city of Khujand, in the southern part of the small Buston, a satellite city of Khujand.

One of the four international airports in Tajikistan, the second busiest airport in the country after Dushanbe International Airport.

It is mainly used by civil aviation (passenger and cargo air traffic), and is also sometimes used as a military airfield by the armed forces of the Republic of Tajikistan. One of the two main hubs for Somon Air and Tajik Air, as well as for the rest of the country’s airlines (East Air, Asia Airways, Asian Express Airline, Somon air).

It is located at an altitude of 436 meters above sea level. It has one runway 3,200 meters long. Built and opened in the Soviet years, it received the status of an international airport after the end of the civil war in Tajikistan. Capable of receiving aircraft of all types, as well as helicopters.

Kulyab International Airport

Kulyab International Airport is an international airport six kilometers north of the city of Kulyab. One of the four international airports in Tajikistan, the third busiest airport in the country, after Dushanbe International Airport and Khujand International Airport.

It is mainly used by civil aviation (passenger and cargo air traffic), and is also sometimes used as a military airfield by the armed forces of the Republic of Tajikistan. It was an additional hub for Somon Air and Tajik Air, as well as one of the hubs for other airlines in the country (East Air, Asia Airways, Asian Express Airline, Samar Air).

It is located at an altitude of 675 meters above sea level. It has one runway 3,000 meters long. Built and opened in the Soviet years, it received the status of an international airport after the end of the civil war in Tajikistan. Capable of receiving aircraft of all types, as well as helicopters.

It has regular flights with a number of Russian cities.

Bokhtar International Airport

Bokhtar International Airport  is an international airport five kilometers northeast of the city of Bokhtar, near the city of Levakant. One of the four international airports in Tajikistan.

Mainly used by civil aviation (passenger and cargo air traffic), also used as a military airfield by the armed forces of the Republic of Tajikistan. It was an additional hub for the local airline East Air, as well as for Tajik Air. Recently, only a flight to Moscow (Sheremetyevo) was operated from the airport on a Boeing-737-800 of Nordwind Airlines.

Built and opened in the Soviet years, it received the status of an international airport after the end of the civil war in Tajikistan. It is capable of receiving helicopters of all types, Airbus A320, Boeing 737 aircraft and aircraft of classes below those listed above. It is located at an altitude of 445 meters above sea level. It has one runway, which initially had a length of about 1700 meters, then was extended to 1985 meters. In 2004-2006 the runway was extended to 2285 meters, which made it possible to receive Yak-42 aircraft, some modifications of the Boeing 737, then work was carried out at the airport to strengthen the coverage of the runway, in 2017 the runway was extended to 2450 meters by building a dam in the bed of the Vakhsh River .

Starting from the beginning of the 2000s and until recently, in different years, the airport had regular flights with Moscow, St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Yekaterinburg, Kazan, Chelyabinsk, Saratov, Samara, Orenburg, and also for some time with Kazakhstani Alma-Ata. Flights to Krasnoyarsk are announced in the summer schedule of 2023.
