Tajikistan with 190.1% growth in tourists influx topped the Top 10 world’s fastest growing tourist destinations and is ahead of countries such as Iran and Turkey. These data was presented by the AFAR multi-platform travel media brand.
Placing Tajikistan on the list’s first line, AFAR notes that after welcoming only 431,000 visitors in 2017, Tajikistan saw massive growth last year with 1,250,000 tourists after the government declared 2018 the Year of Tourism and simplified the visa restrictions.
More travelers are curious to discover this mountainous nation. If you would like to visit Tajikistan, Wild Frontiers is launching a new Tajikistan itinerary in July 2020. The 16-day trip will take guests along the Pamir Highway through the mountain range bearing the same name, with stops to get to know locals at village homestays along the way, says AFAR.
Ecuador takes second place in the list, and Iran closes the top three. Next come Egypt, Uganda, Comoros, Nepal, Turkey, Palestine and Vietnam.
With headquartered in San Francisco, AFAR is the multi-platform travel media brand that inspires and guides those who travel the world to connect with its people, experience their cultures, and understand their perspectives.
